Guy Sheldon took the lead early Saturday night and was able to hold on late to win the Anderson Equipment Modified feature Saturday night (June 28) at Lebanon Valley Speedway.  It is Sheldon’s first big block win since 2007.

“The four weeks that we’ve run prior to tonight, I wasn’t comfortable in it.  I’m not used to running this type of suspension,” Sheldon said afterwards.  “We made some changes and it was the best it’s felt so far.  It’s a real confidence builder.”

Sheldon won by .541 seconds over Eddie Marshall.  Kolby Schroder was third, then Keith Flach and Andy Bachetti.

Rob Maxon started from the pole with Guy Sheldon alongside.  It did not take the veteran racer long to take the lead on the first lap.  J.R. Heffner followed Guy past Maxon.

Following a restart after Bubba McPhee’s crash on lap 6, Keith Flach was able to move up to second.  Meanwhile, Guy Sheldon pulled out to a decent advantage as Eddie Marshall moved into position.

Marshall took second from Flach on lap 17 and started to run down the No. 42.  He had the pace to catch him, but Maxon stalling in turn 2 brought the yellow out with three laps to go.

On the restart, Flach was able to re-pass Marshall for second.  While Marshall got him back, that was all Guy Sheldon needed to hold on for the win.

The 358 Modified feature had trouble on the opening lap when Jeff Watson and Chris Curtis collided in turn 3.  Curtis spun and collected Kim LaVoy, Michael Sabia, Brady Cordova and Joey Coppola.  LaVoy and Sabia were done for the night.

Ray Hall Jr. started from the pole and ran well in his No. 72.  However, the fastest man on the track was Bachetti.  Starting 11th, he quickly made his way forward.  He took the lead away on lap 8, then ran off and hid.

Victory was likely for Bachetti until the engine quit on lap 16, ending his night.  That gave the lead back to Hall, but a charging Curtis was able to take advantage of the caution to get in position.

Curtis took the lead on lap 19, then pulled away to take the win.  Hall was second, then Brett Haas, Kyle Sheldon and Coppola.

In the Sportsman George Marcus Memorial, Karl Barnes started from pole, but immediately lost his lead to Craig Wholey.  A lap later, Barnes spun in turn 2 and was hit by Owen Lewis to bring out a yellow.

Nick Giardini was the man on the move here, quickly advancing from the 11th starting spot.  A couple of laps after the restart, he was already on the tail of Wholey for the lead.  By lap 6, the lead was Giardini’s.

Tim Hartman Jr. struggled to move forward early on, being held up in seventh.  However, after Brady Cordova spun to bring out a yellow, he quickly got up to second.  Despite that, he was unable to keep Giardini from taking his second straight win.  Hartman was second, then A.J. Albreada, Wholey and Michael Sabia.

In Limited Sportsman, Garrett Biagiarelli started from pole, but lost the advantage on the first lap to Dylan Holmes.  Behind Holmes, Brandon Lemaire was moving forward from fifth on the grid.

A couple of laps into the race, Braxton Martin spun out in turn 1 to bring out a yellow.  On the restart, Lemaire was able to sweep around the outside of Holmes to take the lead.

From there, Lemaire pulled away from the pack.  A late yellow bunched everyone up for a three-lap shootout, but Lemaire held for his second win of the year.  Holmes was second, then Brian Walsh, John Santolin and Colby Kokosa.

Paul LaRochelle led the Pro Stock field to green and led early.  An early crash in turn 3 eliminated Brian Keough, Jason Meltz and Shawn Perez.

Frank Twing had some trouble getting his car to roll at the start of the feature.  Despite that, he was able to charge to the front and take the lead on lap 10.

From there, Twing held off Pete Stefanski (driving in place of Chris Stalker) to take the win.  LaRochelle was third, then Zach Sorrentino and Dave Stickles.

In Street Stock, Chris Murphy, driving in place of Anthony King, took the victory.
