Brett Haas was able to snatch the lead away from Chris Curtis on a restart with five laps to go Saturday night.  From there, he was able to hold on and take the victory.  With a triumph in the 358 Modifieds, it marks his first-ever double.

“It’s one of those bucket list childhood dreams,” Haas said after the race.  “We are a family operation, so I never really thought that we would have the opportunity.  Only six guys [before me], according to Brian Bedell, had ever done it.”

Haas won by 1.721 seconds over Curtis.  Andy Bachetti was third, then Kyle Armstrong and Marc Johnson.

J.R. Heffner started from pole in the non-points feature and led early.  Curtis was able to move past Chris Bisson for second on the start.

Bisson ran well early, but Haas was on a charge.  He went to the inside of Bisson in turn 3, but hit a rut.  That bounced him up the track and into Bisson, who spun out to bring out the yellow.

Shortly after the restart, Curtis took the lead from Heffner with Johnson following past.  Further back, Haas continued his charge.  He passed Bachetti for third on lap 17, then got Johnson on lap 23 for second.  He was faster than Curtis, but didn’t have much time.

Then, Montgomery Tremont spun in turn 4 to bring out a yellow and close up the pack.  Haas was able to get Curtis on the restart and pulled away for the win.

The 358 Modified feature was caution-filled.  11 yellows in a 24-lap feature.

Ray Hall Jr. led from the pole and ran well early on.  However, Bachetti was on the move.  From ninth, Bachetti took a mere five laps to get to the lead.

Behind the leaders, Curtis and Haas were moving forward as well after starting on the sixth row.  On lap 9, Haas took second from Hall, but Curtis took it a lap later.

During the sixth caution on lap 13, Curtis had to pit for a left rear tire.  The change was problematic and took a while.  The race restarted with Curtis still on the jack.  Shortly afterwards, Michael Sabia and Brady Cordova collided in turns 3 and 4 to bring out the seventh caution.  The caution came out after the 14th lap was completed and Curtis still had not made it out of the pits.

That put Curtis a lap down.  For the remainder of the race, Curtis appeared to be under the opinion that he was on the lead lap.  He raced the leaders hard for the remainder of the race and actually got his lap back in the closing laps.

Bachetti, meanwhile, held on to win on the road.  However, he came up light at the scales.  That resulted in a disqualification.  Haas finished second on the road and inherited the win over Joey Coppola.  Jeff Watson was third, then Kyle Sheldon and Sabia.

In Sportsman, the race had some difficulties getting underway.  On the original start, Tim Hartman Jr. got in the back of Alex Bell in turn 3, spinning out Bell and collecting Dylan Grogan, Owen Lewis and Karl Barnes in the process.  The second try saw Michael Sabia spin in turn 3 and collect Bell and Albreada.

Once things truly got underway, Tim Hartman Jr. and Nick Giardini were on the move.  Giardini started ninth and was able to get to pole sitter Shawn McPhee on lap 4.  It did not take long for Giardini to take the lead.  Hartman followed into second.

Giardini opened a small gap on the pack, but Hartman was able to close in.  The duo battled for nearly half the race before Hartman made the pass stick with four laps to go.  From there, he held on for the win.

Or, did he?  In post-race inspection, it was discovered that his rev box was disconnected.  That gave Giardini the win.  Brady Cordova was second, then McPhee, Grogan and Anthony Maxon.

Limited Sportsman saw Harold Robitaille start on pole, but quickly lose the advantage to Braxton Martin.  The man on the move in this race was Tim Deffer, who started in 10th.

Deffer was able to take the lead on lap 5 from Martin.  From there, he was never threatened en route to victory.  He finished 1.019 seconds ahead of Brian Walsh.  Colby Kokosa was third, then Brandon Lemaire and Ray Royals.

Pro Stock teams raced 23 laps in the 20th annual Bubba Tanner Pro Stock Event.  Rick Duzlak started from the pole, but immediately lost the advantage to Paul LaRochelle.

The driver that had the best car on this evening was Chris Stalker.  Stalker took the lead from LaRochelle on lap 5, but cut his right rear tire to bring out a yellow on lap 8.  Stalker later made a second pit stop before returning to the race.

Frank Twing had taken the lead from Stalker on lap 7 and was running very well.  He was able to lead the remainder of the way to take the win.  However, much like on Hartman’s car, inspection discovered an unplugged rev box.  As a result, Stalker was declared the winner over Tom O’Connor, Dave Stickles, Duzlak and Zach Sorrentino.

In Street Stock, Anthony King earned the win.  Jason Peck won the 4-Cylinder Feature (Stephen Burka won in Single-Cam), while Kelly Howe won the Powder Puff Event.
