Brett Haas was able to take the lead on lap 22 restart from Marc Johnson Saturday night.  From there, he was able to hold on to take his first win of the year.

“I didn’t think that we were as good as we were, but we made quite a few changes on the car,” Haas said in the pits afterwards.  “I thought we were decent and we were able to roll the bottom better than most.  It worked out.”

Haas won by .508 seconds over Johnson.  Andy Bachetti was third, then Keith Flach and Kolby Schroder.

Brandon Lane started from the pole and led early.  Marc Johnson was able to drive up from third on the grid and challenge for the lead.  Further back, Haas started 12th and quickly made his way forward.  On the other hand, Bachetti struggled to advance on a narrow and bumpy racing surface.

Johnson was able to take the lead from Lane on lap 9 with John Virgilio following past.  The race was clean until Lane jumped the cushion and spun on lap 15 to bring out a yellow.

From there, it was a scramble.  Haas raced his way into the mix, while Matt Pupello was the only driver that was really able to make use of the high line.  Following a second restart, Haas was able to take second from Virgilio and went after Johnson.

Kyle Sheldon having mechanical issues brought out another yellow, bunching the field up.  That was all Haas needed to take the lead on the restart.

The remainder of the race was a series of starts and stops.  Through all that, Haas was able to hold on to take the win.

The 358 Modified feature started with a complete mess.  On the first lap, Alan Houghtaling ran in the back of pole sitter Joe Pravia exiting turn 2, resulting in a multi-car crash that collected nine drivers.  Everyone was ok, but there was a long red flag for cleanup.

Mike Engwer inherited the lead after the crash, but lost it immediately to Donny Travaglin.  Jeff Watson then took it away from Travaglin.

Bachetti managed to avoid the wreck and moved up from 11th on the grid to battle for the lead.  On lap 9, Bachetti took the lead and proceeded to drive away.  Only an incident between Peterson and Brian Berger brought the field back together.

Then, the mechanical issues set in.  Watson had a failure that put him multiple laps down.  With two laps to go, Bachetti had a failure that ultimately ended his night.

That gave the lead over to Joey Coppola.  Coppola was able to hold on to take his first win in two years by .849 seconds over Chris Curtis.  Kyle Sheldon was third, then Ray Hall Jr. and Walter J. Hammond.

The Pro Stock class raced in honor of Steven LaRochelle.  It was going to be a tough race.

Shawn Perez started from the pole and briefly opened up a gap on the field.  Behind him, Zach Sorrentino was able to move himself up to second on lap 5 and began to challenge the elder Perez.

The two traded barbs lap after lap, but Perez was able to keep the advantage despite Sorrentino having the faster car.  Things began to change late when Sorrentino was finally able to get a run on the No. 09.

With four laps to go, Sorrentino got a run on the frontstretch, but Perez held it off.  Another run entering turn 3 was much stronger.  Sorrentino then used a crossover move to clear the No. 09 for the lead.  From there, Sorrentino held on to take the win.

Sorrentino won by .612 seconds over Frank Twing, who just pipped Shawn Perez for second at the line.  Shawn Perez Jr. was fourth and Rocco Procopio fifth.

In Sportsman, Karl Barnes earned the pole, but chose to start in the rear.  That gave the pole to John Agor.  Agor’s time at the front was short-lived as Owen Lewis was able to take the lead in the first corner.

Further back, Nick Giardini started in fifth and quickly made his way up to second.

The catch for the lead occurred a couple of laps later; he ultimately made short work of Lewis for the lead on lap 8.  Once out front, Giardini slowly pulled away from the rest of the field.

From there, Giardini was unchallenged en route to his fourth win of the year.  He ended up 5.51 seconds ahead of Lewis.  Dylan Grogan was third, then Hartman and A.J. Albreada.

The Limited Sportsman feature saw Harold Robitaille start from pole and benefit from clear air.  Despite what he described as not running the best possible lines, he was able to pull out to a 2.6-second lead.

That is, until Garrett Biagiarelli’s car caught fire on lap 12 to bring out the race’s only caution.  Despite the field bunching back up, Robitaille was able to open a gap and hold on for his first career victory.

Robitaille won by 2.199 seconds over John Santolin.  Brandon Lemaire was third, then Brian Walsh and Brexton Martin.

In Street Stock, Anthony King earned his fifth win of the year.
