Donnie Corellis Electrified the Field for 1st Win of 2012
Hearn, Pierce and Jeseo Take Home Wins as Well

The High Banks at Lebanon Valley Speedway amped the action this past Saturday night with hot, mid-summer racing action presented by Rifenburg Construction.  A full schedule of racing events had plenty of action for every fan in the stands.

The marquee feature event of the night was the 30 Lap Big Block Modifieds as the field of 22 took to the high banks.  At the front of the class at the start were the #34H of Steve Hough and the #42P of Matt Pupello.

The action was tight, and the battles were throughout the field as every driver was trying to jockey their cars to get to the front of the field.  The caution flew by lap 5 for the #74 of J.R. Heffner, as mechanical issues ended his night early.

On the restart, it was an all #34 front row, as Hough was joined by teammate Andy Bachetti to try and vie the race win.  Hough and Bachetti battled it out relentlessly up front, but Bachetti won out, and took control of the field by lap 8.

Deep in the field, the contenders were coming.  Brett Hearn, Donnie Corellis, Brian Berger and Kenny Tremont Jr, were all battling it out to get to the front.  Tremont’s night ending around the 12th lap for electrical issues that left Hearn, Corellis and Berger to try and get to Bachetti.

Then on lap 15, Hearn’s night came to a halt as the flame went out of the #20H in turn 2.  That left Berger and Corellis to try and get to Bachetti up front.  On the restart, it was Bachetti, Corellis, Hough, and Kyle Sheldon as the green flag flew.

Corellis finally dove low off of turn 4 for the lead over Bachetti and began to check out.  A late race charge by Bachetti saw the two run side-by-side for the remaining 2 laps for a shootout that had everyone on their feet!  But at the line, Donnie Corellis prevailed to take the win, his 1st of 2012!

Bachetti had to settle for 2nd, Kyle Sheldon powered his way to 3rd, Hough was 4th and Kolby Schroder snuck in to finish 5th over Berger.

The Steve Hough Motors 358 Modifieds had their 20 lap feature event earlier in the night as the #171 of Tom Faxon held the lead till Andy Bachetti and Brett Hearn powered by on lap 13.  Then the #34B and #20H battled it out for the win, and Hearn snuck by on the lap in turn 3 to take the lead, and the win.  Bachetti, Faxon, Steve Hough and Matt Quinn completed the top 5 finishers.

In the LV Sportsman 20 lap feature event, controversy developed late in the race as Chad Pierce had his #83 in control of the event until the #21 of Ryan Darcy blew past in the closing laps to take the checkered flag.  But the #21 did not pass the standard post race scale, and was later DQ’d, as the win was awarded to the #83 of Pierce.

Frank Harper, Brett Haas, Kim LaVoy and Brian Sandstedt complete the top 5 finishers when the official order was revealed.

The Pro Stock Echo Series was on tap for another exciting full-fendered 20 lap feature.  Milo Campbell took the early lead in the feature, but Robbie Speed passed the #81 by lap 3 and took control.

Campbell’s night then came to an abrupt end as his car made contact with the turn 2 wall on lap 7.  That caution put the #25 of Chad Jeseo along side Speed to battle for the lead.  By lap 13, lap traffic cause the front runners to scramble, giving Jeseo the room he needed to complete the pass, and power away for the win.

Speed had to settle for 2nd, Jon Routhier finished 3rd, followed by Jay Corbin and Jason Casey to round out the top 5.

In the Purestocks, Rob Palmer, Chad Arsenault, and Al Relyea all took home wins earlier in the evening.

Next on the schedule at Lebanon Valley Speedway is the return of the USHRA Monster Truck Summer Nations on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday July 16th,  17th, and 18th.  Then it’s back to circle track racing for a special $5,000 to Win Modified Feature presented by NBT Bank and Rifenburg Construction.

If that wasn’t enough, on Sunday July 22nd, the winged warriors return to the Valley of Speed, as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series takes over the high banks.  The Steve Hough Motors 358 Modified Series will also be on tap for a special eastern States Weekend 358-Qualifier!
