Corbin Takes The 1st Annual Jimmy Langenback Memorial
September 10, 2011
The Jimmy Langenback Memorial event was a HUGE success. Jay Corbin drove a flawless race and the 54-lap event paid Jay $5,400 plus $3,300 in lap money making Jay’s win worth over $8,700. Chad Jeseo our current high point leader at the Valley was as smooth as silk for the first part of the race and lead the event for the first third of the race when Corbin slid by coming out of turn 4. Jeseo finished the race in the runner up position followed by Steve Hankle who was piloting Jeseo’s Prostock Tour Crate car. Rob Yetman came in fourth followed by Buddy Hencke both with Crate Motor cars.
The New York State Stock Car Association did a great job in pursuing lap sponsorship and supporting the event. The now annual event will be placed on the Valley’s 2012 schedule according to NYSSCA President Mark Kroski. The event carried a total pay out of just over $18,400 with the top 5 finishers collecting approximately $14,400. The Prostocks were voted the number 1 class in the Capital District said NYSSCA’s President Mark Kroski.
Our Sportsman feature saw Alan Houghtaling take his new car after a bad wreck a couple weeks back to victory on Saturday. The car was on rails and he never faltered even when pressured by Cullen Howe who finished second followed by our current high point leader Brett Haas vying for a top spot.
The Budget Sportsman with over 40 cars in the pits saw Brian Peterson of Enfield, CT getting his second win of the season. Brian ran a perfect race with Jason Herrington challenging but to no avail. Herrington would finish second followed by Tommy Johnson. High point leader Whitey Slavin finished 4th with the hard charging Chris Lynch rounding out the top 5.
The Purestock 58 car field were won by Jesse Murphy, Pete Wiegand, and David Olds.
The 8th Annual Boomer’s Performance 20-Lap Purestock Classic was won by Ray Hall, Sr for the second year in a row.
Lebanon Valley Speedway will host its final night of points next Saturday, September 17th. Don’t forget the Annual Super Swapmeet on Sunday, November 6th with over 400 vendors!!
